Young Victims of Crime |
|
HomeYoung Voice is committed to giving young people a voice in matters that affect them raising the social and political profile of young people and the issues they face. Our projects and publications provide a voice for children and young people. One of our activities includes campaigning and lobbying for positive change in the lives of children and young people. Current campaigns Young victims of crime is Young Voice's major new campaign that calls for young people to be counted and recognised as victims of crime. We are making young victims one of our priorities because our work shows how discounted and ignored they are. Our campaign aims to challenge the negative stereotypes of young people often seen in the media as perpetrator and offender first and foremost. Young Voice and Victim Support have now formed a partnership to drive the campaign forward. Victim Support is the independent national charity for people affected by crime. Staff and volunteers offer free and confidential information and support for victims of any crime, whether or not it has been reported and regardless of when it happened. The organisation operates via a network of affiliated charities, the Witness Service and the Victim Supportline (0845 30 30 900). Our campaign statement forms the basis of our partnership. By signing up to the campaign you can add your voice to the call for recognition of young victims of crime.
Young Voice and partners Victim Support welcome the report of the
Statistics Commission which recommends improved data collection on young victims.
