- Bereavement
Young Voice is currently working to explore the ways in which a bereavement in the family affects parenting. Loss of a child or a parent or family member beyond the immediate circle has profound implications for the remaining members. This may continue for years. This project involves interviewing people ranging in age from young children to elderly grandparents on their viewpoint and experience. We want their advice to others and their hindsight.

- Camden Children's Fund Prevention of Bullying Programme - Young Voice in association with 4Children 2004
A series of art, drama and music workshops were held in 'hotspots' for bullying which children had identified. Children gave their ideas on what adults and services could do, and these suggestions were collated and provided in training sessions to people who work for different services. We wish to thank all the children who took part so enthusiastically and for their excellent ideas. They understood the complicated problems of bullying in a very special way and their know how has been passed to others. Every school and youth club in the borough is to receive a pack of posters, postcards and a copy of the CD of 6 Anti-bullying raps created by children in the Wax Lyrickal music workshops with Lyrickal and Faith. Art workshops were held by Tim Sanders and Louise Alexander, while drama workshops were offered by Chameleon Arts. Young Voice organised the programme, researched young people's views and ideas, and analysed the evaluations. A report is available from Camden Children's Fund, or Young Voice.

- Bullying In Britain
Should a society be judged by the levels of bullying among its young? In a study of 7000 British teens, more than half reported having been bullied. The ramifications of this finding show that bullying threads through society like the strands of a web - and is linked with so many other issues of concern. It can therefore be viewed as a signal or an indicator that the health of the community in which it thrives is not good.

- Where is the Love?
NEW!
'Where Is The Love' is a project undertaken in partnership with Surrey Youth Development Service to work with young people to address violence and controlling or manipulative behaviour in the dating relationship. A best seller in 2006 this pack is now the subject of an evaluation study funded by the Big Lottery.

- Write Up Your Street
A remarkable book is to be published by Young Voice this month. Writer in residence at Lancaster Farms, Mike Crowley has written of his attempts to teach creative writing to young people in the criminal justice system. Award winning writing was the result in some cases and the process is revealing and filled with extraordinary flashes of talent and moving reflective work. The methods he uses would be valuable in work with any group of young people but work particularly well to engage those at risk.

Young parents are offered mothercare vouchers in return for contributing. To learn more or get involved, please contact info@young-voice.org.

- Post Release Support for Young Parents
Young Voice is undertaking a project with young prison parents post release. The need for this was clearly demonstrated in our research project 'Parenting Under Pressure: Prison' and in other research. Despite programmes on family and parenting within some prisons, young parents in particular found themselves unsupported post release. Young people are far less likely to re-offend if they have strong family ties. It is also in the interest of the babies that this project will attempt to work with young people to develop a training resource to be implemented by several services once young parents are released.

- Hackney
Young Voice is currently locating and interviewing young offenders and exploring their past experience of services and likely needs upon release.
This will result in a report containing in-depth interviews on 'blockers' and 'enablers' to try to prepare personal advisors and the YOT team for the clients with whom they will be working. The work will explore the attitudes of young people - their willingness to enter into a partnership with the services, for example and their multi disciplinary needs.
